France, Exposition Universelle de 1900

This fantastic sight is, in fact, a fantasy - it is the site of the 1900 World's Fair. Compare this scene to the New York World's Fair of 1964-65. We see here some of the best architecture anywhere, with excellent examples of a wide variety of styles. The New York fair was built primarily in the Modern style, and most of the buildings were little more than big boxes. How much was lost in only 64 years!

The bridge is as graceful as the rest of the scene.
