Tunis, Le Souk des Chechias

The North African souk is really more of a gallery than an arcade. They are not usually fully decked over, but are normally well shaded against the blistering summer sun. These are the liveliest spots in their respective cities, although almost no one is in evidence in this photograph, possibly because it's siesta time, possibly because the making of graven images in prohibited in Islam..
