This busy waterfront in Barcelona is the place of embarkation. The small boats in the foreground are ferries serving the port area, a service still provided today.
Notice how people have gathered near the waterfront, to watch the activity. The only place of which I can think that is more likely to draw a crowd is the locks of a canal. Notice the building in the background. The building in the background was and still is the port authority. A real effort was made with this building, but it does not quite succeed.
