Innsbruck, Maria Theresienstrasse

This street actually violates our rule regarding width. It is probably 50 meters wide and really could be regarded as a square. It actually appears that the street swells here, possibly to make room for the monument. It is otherwise typical of wide streets. The buildings are obviously of high quality, and it seems evident that this is an important commercial area.

The addition of the miniature trees at the foot of the monument is peculiar. While trees planted in tubs are sometimes to be found on sidewalks, their presence in the middle of the street is odd. Small as they are, they obscure quite a good deal of the street.

Notice the three-wheel delivery bicycle in the foreground.
