The Duomo is one of the largest churches in the world and fronts on a square to match. The entrance portal of the marvelous Galleria Victor Emmanuel can be see on the left.
It appears that the quality of this square has actually improved since this photograph was taken. The contemporary photographs I have seen imply that the trams have been relocated and that the area is entirely given over to pedestrians. If anyone knows for sure, please advise.
