This is a happier intersection. It is evident from the number of people standing in the street that it is still used as a social space, and that traffic takes second place.
The monument-cum-fountain is a marvel!
Notice how the streets first diverge leaving the square and then appear to converge again in the middle distance. Notice also that this gives a good sense of enclosure to the space.
