I included this only because it is such a striking man-made natural environment. The scale of the undertaking must have been enormous. The bright archway of light that can be seen at the ends of two of the tunnels gives an idea of the length of these paths.

In a new carfree city, such flights of fancy could find a place at the edge of the districts.

How much does it cost to maintain something like this?
